Entering the Shift Age is a must read to prepare for an ever changing world. The authors insights are relevant to identify tools and techniques to understand and shape our future.
David Houle has nailed it again. I have read several of Houle's books. I was particularly interested in the analyses about the explosion in media, including radio stations, TV stations and also websites. And, while Internet usage has clearly exploded in the last 15 years, and seems dominant, we may still be at the early stages of Internet usage. The collapse of legacy thinking should be a must read for all of us. Great stuff.
David Houle does some very difficult things well with his latest work
1. Distillation. He puts forth a very compelling thesis of the accelerating influences affecting almost everyone globally. These influences lead to feelings of dislocation and leave many of us gasping for air. Yet, while most of us would agree with the preceding assessment, Mr. Houle has adroitly chosen just the right kind of, and right amount of data to prove his point.
2. Ease. Houle writes so well that you can breeze through page after page after page effortlessly, despite a broadly defined study of history, current influences, and likely future outcomes.
3. Aid. David Houle comforts readers by explaining why so many of us feel and act frenetic. Not only that he provides techniques for how to better wrap your mind and behavior around this new 'Shift Age.'
Last, I happen to agree with him that humanity is entering a new era where our interconnectedness, and therefore exapanded consciousness, is inescapable. This work distills this thesis succinctly and potently.
This is a great book about the future and where the new global world is headed, given that you take the author's writing with a grain of salt. His analysis is backed up with thorough rhetoric and arguments for his statements of the direction things are going. The writing and perspective does come from a very positive viewpoint, not that this is necessarily wrong-- so it is refreshing to read something that gives a long-term perspective of transformation and change rather than just what is right in front of us, right now, which can look grim.
The author makes the argument that the history of humanity consists of four different ages, and different elements and instruments defining each stage.

Conciousness, which will define the Shift Age.
At an increasingly exponential rate, things will change into a new global economy and developing countries like Africa will begin to do better than they have ever done in history. Higher education will become free and accessible for anyone over the Internet. People will begin to live longer than ever before with the implementation of bionics, nanotechnology, robots, and brainwave computer interface. The power has been taken away from governments and institutions and placed into the hands of the individual. More and more people will choose to stay single rather than get married. People will have less babies, resulting in a necessary reduction in the world human population. These are a few of the points that the author illustrates in this book.
